Fair Lending Center

In a first of its kind effort in New Mexico, United South Broadway Corporation has launched the Fair Lending Center. The center is focused on immediate solutions for homeowners facing loss of their property, including legal representation in foreclosure cases.

Approximately 7,000 New Mexicans will face losing their homes to foreclosure in the coming year. USBC is able to help homeowners keep their homes on more affordable terms in more than 75% of the cases handled. Keeping a family in its home helps to fight poverty in the community and provides stability to children and youth.

Options for distressed homeowners include
  • Assistance with the current mortgagee for repayment agreements on existing loans.
  • Sale of their home should their current lender agree to a "Short Sale" arrangement.

United South Broadway is taking steps to actually provide direct solutions to homeowners and neighborhoods facing this daunting challenge. The center is free and is a dedicated structure devoted solely to helping on this key issue. USBC Director Diana Dorn Jones said "For many the national dream of home ownership has turned into a national nightmare of foreclosure. USBC is opening this first in the state foreclosure defense center to provide concrete solutions to the most daunting challenge facing America's families. Including negotiation of forbearance agreements, loan modifications and legal defense in court."
